Cheyenne and Pete are college sweethearts that met during undergrad. As a result, it was no surprise that they chose to have their summer engagement session at Oakland University!
I always enjoy photographing at Oakland University. The stately architecture and sophisticated white stone feels like downtown Detroit…minus the downtown traffic. Towards the end of our time together, we even incorporated the fountain into the background. Surprisingly, the varied water patterns resulted in some of my favorite photos!
Pete and Cheyenne were total sweethearts during our time together and were wonderful to work with. Their cute dog Oatmeal (Oatie for short) even tagged along for some photos. (Thank you to Cheyenne’s sister Savannah for helping to keep Oatie comfortable during the session!)
Pete and Cheyenne’s love story began when he invited her to his fraternity formal during undergrad…and from there the rest was history. A few years later, during a double date at the Wayne County Christmas light display, Pete popped the question! Using inspiration from Cheyenne’s Pinterest board, Pete custom designed a ring without Cheyenne suspecting anything. Although Savannah was in on it all, the proposal took Cheyenne completely by surprise!
It was so wonderful to have an opportunity to photograph Cheyenne and Pete in the place where their story began. I can’t wait to photograph these two and their families next August when we are all celebrating at the Italian American Cultural Center together! Until then – enjoy the photos!
