Abbie and Josh’s summer wedding at the St. Clair Inn was a laid-back, family-focused affair that highlighted the best that the Blue Water area has to offer!
Having grown up in Port Huron, I spent many summers with my cousins playing on the St. Clair Boardwalk next to the St. Clair Inn. To photograph a wedding that incorporated the beauty of the St. Clair Inn and the majestic St. Clair River brought back so many beautiful childhood memories for me and made me so proud to have called the Blue Water area home for so many years! Abbie and Josh couldn’t have picked a more beautiful venue or a more gorgeous July day for their wedding day!
The morning started off with Abbie and the women getting ready at the couple’s home in Port Huron. Abbie and Josh have been together for years, which inspired Abbie to think outside of the box for her wedding attire. She chose the most beautiful blush wedding dress which had delicate lace and a sparkly belt. Paired with her square-toed, silver sparkle Stuart Weitzman heels, she was truly a stunning bride!
A few miles away, Josh put on his finishing touches outside of St. Edward on the Lake Catholic Church. Once inside, he shared a special moment with his grandmother as she and his father helped him put on a bracelet that was a family heirloom. While the ring bearers were receiving help with their ties, guests began to filter in for the ceremony as a thunderstorm rolled in.
Abbie and Josh’s ceremony took place in their home church and included a traditional Catholic mass with communion. Abbie and Josh’s daughter, Stella, stole the show in her pink dress and bouquet. She did a fantastic job and even completed a reading as part of the ceremony!
After the ceremony and a handful of family photos on the altar, the couple and guests departed for the St. Clair Inn for the wedding reception. The couple chose to highlight the natural lighting and bright reception space with a mix of elegant white florals. I was so excited to photograph Abbie and Josh’s wedding cake, which was a gorgeous six-tier masterpiece created by Abbie’s grandmother!
The sun began to shine and the couple enjoyed prayer and toasts by family members before slipping outside for their newlywed portraits by the water. Stella snuck in for a few family photographs too!
